Release date set for Harvest Moon: Twin Villages
We now have what seems to be final Japanese release date for Harvest Moon: Twin Villages! If you remember, last year Marvelous first announced that the game was coming out on February 25th of this year. Well in late January, they had to scratch that date along with a few other titles they had planned on releasing in early 2010. For the past few months it was unknown when the game would come out, but today Marvelous finally set a new official release date: July 8th, 2010
It's up to Natsume whether or not North America will see this game. Natsume has yet to even bring over Harvest Moon: Wind Bazaar (DS) though, so it would probably be a year or two before we hear anything about Twin Villages leaving Japan.
In other release date news: The release date for Hero of Leaf Valley got pushed back one week for technical reasons related to the UMDs (the PSP discs). According to Natsume:
"unfortunately the production of the UMDs is a little slower than expected. They will still be made and ready before the 20th, but shipping them from Sony to the individual retailers will push it a few days past the 20th. Retailers will have the title before the 27th, it just really depends on the retailer when they are available. Thus a blanket release of the 27th was suggested...that way all retailers who carry the product can release at the same time."
I've called a couple of local Gamestops just to check, and both confirmed that they'd start selling the games on the 27th. So make sure to mark next Tuesday on your calendar!
We're not done updating the jukebox yet - this week, we have the music from Rune Factory 3!
While Rune Factory 3 has not been released outside of Japan yet, that's not keeping us from releasing the music in the HMO jukebox! The game is the third DS installment of the franchise, and looks to build on the previous games. While it keeps the farming, romance, and fantasy adventure aspects of the game, in RF3 you have the ability to transform into monsters!
Rune Factory 3 doesn't have any sort of release date yet outside of Japan, but we'll be sure to let you guys know as soon as it does. In the meantime, be sure to give the RF3 music a listen. Oh, and we're happy to say that the jukebox now contains music from all 4 current Rune Factory games!
Natsume announced that the upcoming Harvest Moon game Hero of Leaf Valley has officially gone gold!
A game going gold basically means that the master copy of the game (Gold CD) has been officially created. It marks the point where it is ready to ship off to the manufacturer to produce the all of the copies of the game!
Hero of Leaf Valley comes out on the PSP on April 20th and will be selling for $29.99. We'll post another reminder in a week or so. Until then, feel free to get in the mood for the game by listening to HoLV music in our jukebox or Youtube channel!
Yup, we've got yet another new HM game's soundtrack for you guys to enjoy!
If you've had a chance to play the new Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for the Wii, you know how big of a game it is. Animal Parade was labeled as one of the best Wii games of 2009 by a lot of gaming websites, and for good reason. The amount of features and depth of gameplay was amazing not only for a Harvest Moon game, but for a game in general. And of course, one of the keys to being such a successful game is having great music!
We've actually included quite a few of these songs in the new Animal Parade album on the jukebox. Thanks to HarvestMoonLuver from the forums, we were able to figure out the names of most of the songs (thanks HMLuver!), but we haven't been able to name them all. If you go and listen to the album, you'll see that towards the end of the list, there are a bunch of songs labeled "BGM#". This is because we're not exactly sure where the song appears in the game. But if you guys could help us out in naming these songs that would be great! So feel free to leave a comment or email us (email@example.com) with any song-naming help. :)
A member on our forum, HarvestMoonLegend, has been creating some little Harvest Moon animations for the past few months ! There's a feature on the new Nintendo DSi called Flipnote Studio where you can create animations directly on your DSi system. Then you can upload them to the internet for world to enjoy!
She has made a number of Harvest Moon-related flipnotes which can be found on the website "Flipnote Hatena". Check out a couple of them below:
So yeah, if you'd like to see more, be sure to visit -HarvestMoonLegend's Flipnote Hatena page-! And if you have Harvest Moon fan art of some kind that you'd like to see featured on here on HMO, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org :)
Big news Xbox360 fans - Harvest Moon is headed your way! Marvelous Entertainment announced last night that the Xbox360 will get it's first taste of the famous farming franchise with Harvest Moon: Harmony Hill (牧場物語: 平和丘)
The game seems to take place in a typical Harvest Moon type of village, but with a twist - It's on a giant hill!! The sloped terrain should make for an interesting farming experience. And we can only imagine how exhausting it will be running up and down the hill to visit the townspeople.
Right now the game has an expected international release date of October 2010. You can expect to see this game at E3 in June, but until then we'll be sure to keep you all posted as we learn more! :)
New album! This week we're adding to the Rune Factory collection!
It's Rune Factory Frontier's turn this week, as we start to see some of the newer games. Rune Factory Frontier was released last year and features a huge set of background music. We've gone through and picked out the main themes from the game for your listening pleasure. But remember, if you see that we've left out a song that you would really like to see on the jukebox, just email us at email@example.com :)
If you've enjoyed a Harvest Moon title over the last 15 years or so, you have Yasuhiro Wada to thank. Wada is the founder of the Harvest Moon franchise, and has been a key employee with Marvelous Entertainment.
But Wada has just announced that on March 31 he will resign from his position as Director of Digital Content at Marvelous. The only reason Marvelous has released for why he's stepped down is "for personal reasons". But it may have to do with Marvelous not doing as well financially as they had hoped, considering all of the games they have released over the past couple years.
Whatever the reason, Wada will not be completely leaving Marvelous. Starting April 1st he will be serving as an "advisor" for the company. Should be interesting to see the direction Marvelous takes the Harvest Moon franchise from here!
