E3 Update: Harvest Moon 3D ??

Hey everyone, hope you've been enjoying all of the E3 press conferences and new game announcements!

If you caught Nintendo's conference this morning, you saw official unveiling of the new Nintendo 3DS: the first ever portable 3D gaming system! Nintendo definitely seems to have outdone themselves once again with this new system. They even went so far as to mention a potential list of Nintendo 3DS games.

And yes. A Harvest Moon game was on this list.

IGN, Joystiq, and Engadget all list a tentatively-titled "Harvest Moon 3D" game to come out on the Nintendo 3DS as some point.

I guess it would only be a matter of time before Marvelous develops some Harvest Moon game for the 3DS anyway, but it's nice to see them make the initial list!

Nintendo Power scan: RF3 and Grand Bazaar

In the latest issue of Nintendo Power, there was an article on Grand Bazaar and Rune Factory 3!

A month ago we posted about Grand Bazaar's American release date being announced as July 27th. Then, just this week Rune Factory 3 was confirmed to be released sometime late this year!

Nintendo Power basically just reviewed key the features of both games. They also jokingly make reference to how "a sheep monster plushie has yet to be announced". I guess it's possible, right? :)

Rune Factory 3 announced for North America!!

It's confirmed, Rune Factory 3 is coming to the Nintendo DS later this year! Natsume, as expected, will be publishing the game which is the 3rd DS title and 4th overall in the Rune Factory series.

If you've never played a Rune Factory game before, it's similar to the Harvest Moon series. It has farming and relationship features, but it adds in fantasy/moster-fighting aspects as well. Here's the official newsletter sent out by Natsume:

"Burlingame, Calif., June 8, 2010 - Natsume Inc., a worldwide developer and publisher of family-oriented video games, announced today that Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon will be released for the Nintendo DST later this year. The Rune Factory series combines the fun and rewarding gameplay of Harvest Moon with the fantasy and excitement of an action-RPG, offering Harvest Moon fans and traditional RPG players the best of both worlds.

"We can't wait to give fans their first look at this title at the upcoming E3 tradeshow," said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO at Natsume. "This game has a powerful story, a compelling new cast of characters, and a lot of exciting new features. It's the best and deepest Rune Factory yet!"

The people of Sharance and their horned Univir neighbors are embroiled in a bitter conflict. An age-old hatred between humans and monsters divides them. Micah is an adventurer with an unusual secret: he's half monster! He'll have to unite the humans and the Univir in time to stop the growing evil force that threatens to destroy them both!

Rune Factory 3 introduces a number of exciting new features to the Rune Factory series: befriended villagers will now join you in battle and lend you their unique skills, players can transform the main character into his monster form to unleash a savage new arsenal of fighting moves, and the game's new multiplayer mode lets up to three players work together to conquer unique dungeons packed with rare items and fearsome monsters.

Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon will make its first public appearance at this month's E3 show in the Los Angeles area and will ship to retail later this year.

HMOtaku on TV! ...5 years ago!

g4 logoWe've got a unique update for you guys today! Some of you may remember this, others may not, but either way it's fun to look back in time at the site, right? :)

So back in 2005, we were contacted on the HMOtaku forums by a representative from G4TV (the gaming channel on TV). At the time, Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life had just come out and one of their TV shows wanted to do a live interview with a member of our forum about the game.

One of the HMOtaku admins at the time, Akie, agreed to do the interview. She got called up during the show to talk about the game with the show's hosts. Of course they poked fun a little bit at Harvest Moon in general, but I think we all know people that just don't understand the fun in HM games. :P

Anyway, hope you enjoy this look back in time at HMOtaku!
(Sorry for the bad video quality!)

Fan comic - "Friends of Stick Town"!
comic 2 preview

A member of the forums, Caspis Sinclair, has recently been posting these very clever and funny comics for us all to enjoy. These comics are basically a parody of the Harvest Moon world, and include a variety of familiar Harvest Moon characters.

Right now he has finished 7 comics, which can be seen in the fan section here. They're pretty funny, and if you enjoy them make sure to stop by his thread (link below) and give him some support! :)

Hero of Leaf Valley content updates

Hey everyone, hope you're enjoying Hero of Leaf Valley so far!

I've been updating some of the content pages for the game over the last week or so - so far we have the interactive map, shops, part-time work, crops, and calendar events pages done. I'll continue updating our content for the game though, and if you'd like to help, feel free to send us an email at hmocontent@gmail.com :)

We also just added a couple more HoLV songs to the HMO Jukebox and our Youtube page: Alice's theme and Summer theme!

Again, we're not sure of all of the song names for HoLV, so if you know any of the unnamed songs in the jukebox, shoot us an email (hmocontent@gmail.com). :)
