[ToT] HM ToT new plot issues

OK I'm stuck. I bought the sea side plot but I can't till the soil...I googled it and looked everywhere can't find a solution. Can someone help me out?

additional details:
my initial plot I choose was the hilltop plot
my house is lvl 4 (dunno if this matters)
my hoe and most of my tools aside from sickle and fishing rod are copper, my sickle is not upgraded at all. (again dunno if it matters)
I'm in year 2 spring

I think the soil you are trying to till is where the animal grazing field goes so that might explain it.

heh I feel dumb now! XD The ground all looks the same I'm gonna have to look at some pictures to see where I can till. TY!

I know I'm attempting to till in the right area but still it won't till...

For that plot, you can cut the grass to use as food for your animals, but you aren't able to plant crops on anything other than the "L" shaped land.

Thank you so much I figured it out because you mentioned the L-shape and that clued me in that i was at the wrong place. I was mistaking another plot(have no clue what plot it is it's HUGE) for the seaside plot, which I finally found an image for...

The Mountain Plot. It's the largest plot, and you can grow crops on it after you purchase it from Town Hall.
