Help Needed With Choosing the Best DS Harvest Moon Game!

Weather: RF3
Family aspect: Always useless. RF2 uses it for the plot though.
Animal/farming: ToTT. RF3 also has a good farming system, but the monsters are just too easy to deal with and they do some chores for you. They make farming much easier so you can do other stuff. So, farming is way too easy in RF3, which isn't bad since it balances the game.

So what is the extent of the Family in RF3? It got your vote in all but that area so I was wondering. I know you can only have 3 (I think that's what was mentioned above), and that they don't leave the house. Can you do anything else with them? Play games etc rock the babies to sleep? etc.

Also you don't have to have the monsters work your farm right? To make it more challenging?

There really isn't a family aspect in RF3. Kids are dolls that only say one line. Yes you can have 3, but they all say one line, so there really isn't much of a point.

And mostly because I haven't heard anything new about it either, except more sign boards. No one spoke about kids actually doing something, so yeah, I never bothered.

Yeah, you can just have them without any assigned jobs. (well, here you assign parts of your field and the only optional job is to automatically plant seed, they clean the field and water it all by themselves and any monster can do it.)

Not much difference to you maybe, BUT IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE TO ME! 3 kids with 3 lines each, thats 9! 9 times the amount you said!

And yup! I played RF3 completely without monsters.

Aw, it doesn't sound like any of these games has the family aspect I was hoping for

Anyone know about this Rune Factory 4?

My soul reason for wanting to get a HM game on the DS is because I want to eventually buy that when it gets put in English. My main reason for liking this game is I fell in love with this pic, and really want to play her.



But based on the other aspects of these other DS version I'm wondering if it will be worth it.

So far (of games I can get now) Rune Factory 2 is sounding the best because of the switching generations.

RF4 won't come out till spring 2012. In Japan. SO don't expect it in the US till Fall 2012 at the earliest.

I think I have officially decided on Rune Factory 2! Thanks to all of you guys! I may buy the others later on, but that'll be my first! I'm excited now I wish I had it now.

So in Rune Factory 2 for the 2nd generation can you only b a girl. All the tutorials I've seen has you only being a girl. And as a daughter can you take over the family farm and do all the chores etc.

What can I expect from this game as far as bad aspects? Glitches etc.

You can choose between boy or girl. Or let the game decide.

The game lags when there are four or more characters/monsters onscreen.


....can't really think of anything else though (I'm actually playing the game now)
