Well, I thought it was pretty good. I'm only on the second book, but it's a mix of vampires and romance. (Yes, I count 'vampires' as a genre. XD) If you're okay with that you should try it out before the movie comes out. They're bound to mess it up big time...

I'm totally in love with these books though.I'm getting so impatiend for Breaking Dawn.I've reserved a copy ^_^And I wanna see the movie so bad.I dont really think Robert Patinson(sp?) looks like Edward at all,but no mortal can compare,so I suppose it's alright...I really hope they don't screw up the movie too bad,though.The trailer made me nervous,they messed up some of the scenes JUST IN THE TRAILER...as me and Oam-chan are doing,let us pray to the cinima gods that it'll be fine! xD

I agree with you, it's a very girly book in the terms that it involves a very unrealistic romance scene with very generic love and complication elements and themes as many other novels teenage girls read these days, however in this case it adds the element of vampires whom girls find fascinating these days with the general "hottie" description.

Once you read one you read them all. I prefer reading stories with more complex stories and even if it's fantasy I expect humans to think like humans and therefore won't get into these stupid romances.

No offense to the story, I'm just saying why I don't like these types of books, or the fandom for them

I asked my friend to buy it for me for my birthday last year since she wouldn't shut up about it... and I still haven't read it because I heard from a few people that the story is cliche and girly and pretty much every single character is a Mary-Sue of some sort. That's... really not my thing. I don't like romance books to begin with, and that just makes it worse.

I might go see the movie, though, if I don't ever get around to reading the book. If what's been said in this topic is true, it seems it's coming out on my birthday, which is kind of weird considering when I got the book.

I'll make it less womanly in here. My sister has the books and when I saw them I was basically "OooooohBigBookwithAmbigousTitle". I have read the whole series uptil now mostly because once I start reading books I read them to the end.

The fight scenes aren't that bad. To me Meyers needs to put in like 4905372985y72m38470 more fight scenes to make me throughly enjoy it. Actually she should just make it one fightscene leading into another. The first one was the best because it had the least amount of gushiness in it and the Cullens seemed more real in it. Afterwards they seem to be more cardboard cutouts that don't have nearly enough lines. Some things like the backstory (Like how Edward and Dr. Cullen met, the powerful underground group, history of the south in connection with vampires) was really neat but I'm just a history nerd so thats probably why it interests me more.

To this series could have potential but there would have to be made changes that I'm sure many of the fans wouldn't like. The overall way the story is told and some of the things that happen just make it corny to me. Things that happen in the story (You know what they are) just plain don't happen in real life and makes it lose for me a good bit of whatever good storytelling Meyers manages.

As some of you may have heard, my partial draft of Midnight Sun was illegally posted on the Internet and has since been virally distributed without my knowledge or permission or the knowledge or permission of my publisher.

I have a good idea of how the leak happened as there were very few copies of Midnight Sun that left my possession and each was unique. Due to little changes I made to the manuscript at different times, I can tell when each left my possession and to whom it was given. The manuscript that was illegally distributed on the Internet was given to trusted individuals for a good purpose. I have no comment beyond that as I believe that there was no malicious intent with the initial distribution.

I did not want my readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited and published. I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being. As the author of the Twilight Saga, I control the copyright and it is up to the owner of the copyright to decide when the books should be made public; this is the same for musicians and filmmakers. Just because someone buys a book or movie or song, or gets a download off the Internet, doesn't mean that they own the right to reproduce and distribute it. Unfortunately, with the Internet, it is easy for people to obtain and share items that do not legally belong to them. No matter how this is done, it is still dishonest. This has been a very upsetting experience for me, but I hope it will at least leave my fans with a better understanding of copyright and the importance of artistic control.

So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.

I'd rather my fans not read this version of Midnight Sun. It was only an incomplete draft; the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting? It has taken me a while to decide how and if I could respond. But to end the confusion, I've decided to make the draft available here (at the end of this message on the Midnight Sun page). This way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest. I hope this fragment gives you further insight into Edward's head and adds a new dimension to the Twilight story. That's what inspired me to write it in the first place.

I do want to take a moment and thank the wonderful fans who have been so supportive of me over the past three years. I cannot begin to tell you how much each of you means to me. I only hope this note will stop all the confusion and online speculation so that the Twilight universe can once again become the happy escape it used to be. After this incredibly busy year, I am now focusing on spending more time with my family and working on some other writing projects.

I liked the first book, but not so much New Moon, Eclipse, and even Breaking Dawn, she wrote them way too quickly especially the last one, which was too big by the way.

I'll make it less womanly in here. My sister has the books and when I saw them I was basically "OooooohBigBookwithAmbigousTitle". I have read the whole series uptil now mostly because once I start reading books I read them to the end.

The fight scenes aren't that bad. To me Meyers needs to put in like 4905372985y72m38470 more fight scenes to make me throughly enjoy it. Actually she should just make it one fightscene leading into another. The first one was the best because it had the least amount of gushiness in it and the Cullens seemed more real in it. Afterwards they seem to be more cardboard cutouts that don't have nearly enough lines. Some things like the backstory (Like how Edward and Dr. Cullen met, the powerful underground group, history of the south in connection with vampires) was really neat but I'm just a history nerd so thats probably why it interests me more.

To this series could have potential but there would have to be made changes that I'm sure many of the fans wouldn't like. The overall way the story is told and some of the things that happen just make it corny to me. Things that happen in the story (You know what they are) just plain don't happen in real life and makes it lose for me a good bit of whatever good storytelling Meyers manages.

It sounds lamer than the rest of them. XD

Though possible fight scene may make up for it.

Because she has put this scene off for three books I can't help but ask how in detail she goes into the inevitable ... honeymoon scene.

I,for one, liked the movie way more than I thought I was going too. I had REALLY Low Expectations, so it did better than I thought. That made me happy...Admitedly,they did change alot, but it was still really good. I had to pee when James, Victoria, and Laurent showed up to the field, but couldnt make myself leave...my friend and I RAN to the bathroom afterwords xD ...ya'll probably didnt want to know that...

I liked the second half of the movie after they were officially together and stuff. I personally got tired of all the girls in the theatre whistling and screaming every time Edward got on the screen... he really isn't that hot..at all.

Not so much, but I do agree they are pretty HURHURLOVE. But normal people aren't just "SEXSEXSEXSEX." People have control over themselves, they aren't animals. They can very easily choose to exert this control, sadly however, most just don't.

If by detailed you mean, more scenes where they are mushy, she thinks how ugly and normal she is and how perfect he is, then yes. It is more detailed.

I just saw the movie, and I'm in distress. Did I really just spend that amount of money I've earned on THAT? The only redeeming quality was Edward-- even though he isn't the most attractive boy in the world, he wasn't ugly. So I was fine with watching him. Oh, and the Asian too.

Good books aren't meant for teens to understand, and what teens understand, is something too basic and vulgar for adult people to read.

Since I nerver read, I wouldn't read this anyway, since it looks like a soap that it's in tv here for years now, that I don't see because it's too overly teeny like. The difference is that the soap does not have vampires, and really, that vampires thing just make the book weird.

UM. There are no redeeming values. Granted, I have yet to read the book and I may change my mind (HIGHLY doubtful) but the movie was absolutely horrid. I want to shoot whoever wrote the dialogue and the actress who played Bella was a ROBOT. She had absolutely NO emotion and there was no chemistry between her and Cedric Diggory sans accent. The pauses between EVERY word were quite annoying as well. It's a good thing that the dialogue only took up about 20 minutes of it and the rest of it was INTENSE staring with bad piano music in the background.

My friend wore that when we went to see it xD We had to buy our Tickets 3 days early and when we went the day of the ticket line was total hell... Then when the logo came up the fangirls started screaming like crazy (my ears almost bled) like usual. What surprised the crap out of me was kira (my friend) yelling SHUT UP!! so loud that everybody went quiet.. xD

I thought the movie was okay, but I was kinda expecting the only appeal was for lots and lots of Edward service :D

+ new studio that's used to small scale stuff
+ really really stingy budget compared to the average film
+ not that much experience in making epics

These days... it takes A LOT to get me angry. A lot.
But... oh... my... god.

If I have to hear ONE MORE PERSON. ONE. Talk about Twilight to me, I AM GOING TO SCREAM.
I hate selling the merchandise, I hate listening to every 14 year old girl who comes in, I hate seeing it everywhere. I hate it hate it hate it.

I read the books about 2 years ago, maybe. I couldn't stand them the first time through. The second read through was a little better, about a year ago.
THEN. 6 MONTHS LATER; IT BECOMES EVERYONE'S NEW RELIGION.

I work at Hot Topic. We started out with ONE shirt. The Team Edward shirt. Okay, no big deal.

Now? Our entire two-way, front of the store, and most of the cash wrap is COVERED IN TWILIGHT.

It doesn't help that almost every single one of my co-workers, including my ASM's and SM are also addicts.
The entire store went to the midnight premiere.
If listening to everyone talk about it in the store wasn't bad enough;
listening to everyone squeal everytime Edward came onto the screen was a thousand times worse.

The books are terribly written, the character development horribly sped up; and above all, a complete slash to all vampire novels I've ever read.

Do yourselves a favor. If you really want to read them, check them from a library. They're okay for a read, but nothing short of mediocre.
I don't blame the author; she wasn't a seasoned writer when the books were published.

After you've checked them out and read them, do yourself another favor.

Either
1. Check out the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton (A slight warning for sex and violence.)
2. Begin reading the Sookie Stackhouse series; which inspired the recently popular True Blood series on HBO.
3. Read the classic Dracula.

Enjoy a real vampire tale or three.

I just watched it on Sunday witha bunch of my friends that already seen it in the movies. We were all watching it on bootleg... rawr... and almost everyone was saying what happened... I was really pissed because my new friend was sayin exactly what the people in the movies were saying. Oh and my other new friend was gettin on my nerves becuase she kept repeating how ugly she thinks Edward is... he isnt ugly... rawr... i didnt even get to see the end of the movie because me and one of my new friends were play fighting... both chicks... and she was like, "Do ya give up?" and i was on the floor undr her laughing so hard saying, "No, Ari never gives up" haha funny... i was pissed cuz i dint get to ssee the movie but my friend said that i would be dissapointed at the end anyway... so...

I read the books about 2 years ago, maybe. I couldn't stand them the first time through. The second read through was a little better, about a year ago.

I read the book 2 years ago, in grade 7, I suggested it to some of my friends. [NONE of which read it that year] then all of a sudden, all I hear is 'Twilght this' and 'Twilight that' I was like.. "Dude.. Thats OLD."

Honestly, I liked the book, but I DON'T see what's so [I]GREAT about it.

Because why would we put it in if we wanted everyone to find ways around it? >_> It's kind of unrealistic to join a site for a video game geared towards young audiences and be surprised that vulgarity isn't allowed. Also, hippos are AWESOME. =D
