Why? Because it was first perceived as "Tranquility" and then out "Peace" was used and it started getting more popular because of how short and simple the word is. It can be translated either way.

I don't mind ToT that much. It is kind of a mouthful, but I think it fits. Seems a little less child-like too which I guess is good for attracting a bigger audience. :D

While that is a very pretty name, that would get SO CONFUSING. Tree of Serenity = ToS, Tales of Symphonia = ToS, and I think there was another one but I can't think of it at the moment... Hmm...

It sound so soothing and I don't know...calm.
I always thought of Harvest Moon as a calming game with enough strategy to keep my attention on the game and not get bored.

And just to clear things up it was originally called Tree of Tranquility by people like Cher. Someone translated the title themselves and said it was "Peace" because it was close to "Tranquility" anyway. Peace suddenly became more popular because it's shorter and easier.
Natsume actually didn't change anything to the title. They just picked the English word that was closer to the original meaning of the Japanese word.

I don't know why everyones against the tranquility, so what that it's a big boy word, it makes my game look more sophisticated and appeals to the players with a big more respect for a bit of intellect in their games. I actually just borrowed the game today from a friend, and hoping it's as good as the name.
