Mining

The Mine in Leaf Valley is located near the Lake area, and right across from Funland's camp. Before you can start mining on your own, you'll need to work part-time for Rudolph 5 times. After that, you can dig at the mine whenever you please.
Mining in HoLV is actually pretty different than other HM games, and can take some getting used to. But you should definitely focus at least a little of your time on mining because there are certain benefits that come with it:
- Money
- You can increase your friendship levels with certain characters by bringing them ore/gems
- Certain Event paths require you to have mined a certain number of items
- You can bring gems to Zann in year 3 and have them made into earrings
The Rooms of the Mine
The Mine is divided into 10 rooms that you can dig in. Each room also has two possible starting layouts for the rocks inside. In other words, there are ten rooms in the mine, each with an A or B rock configuration. At the beginning of every season, a new level of the mine will be unlocked.

Extra rooms
There are also a few extra areas of the mine that are available after you complete certain events in the game!
Underground Lake - Available after completing event . This is also a nice fishing spot. Be careful though, as time flows normally in this area of the mine.
Rockslide area - Available through event path 14, The Secret Fossil
Mecha Mole area - Available after completing event 1-11
Underground Church - Available through event path 12, The Holy Masterpiece
Solving the Puzzles
Digging in the mine is a puzzle more than anything else, and it can take some thinking to figure out how to best to solve each room's puzzle. Also, digging tends to drain your stamina pretty quickly, so its best to get the most for as little hammer swings as possible. Luckily for you, we've saved you the thinking and effort and have each room solved for you. :)
All you really need to do once you enter the room is move the yellow boulders (the only ones you're able to move, and it costs you some stamina) into the right positions, and then hit the correct boulder (see pictures for where to stand) in the right direction.
